Reconnecting to Community
Linda and Jeevan are out in the community, excited to be on a new adventure. Their ride? A brand-new accessible van, made possible by the generosity of donors.
For months, Jeevan has been hoping to meet up with her friends. But broken-down vans and a lack of reliable transportation made it impossible.
Thanks to generous donors to our spring Drive to Thrive fundraiser, Jeevan is connecting with her community again!
Linda, a community inclusion worker here at Communitas, says having a new van makes such a difference.
“Having a new van makes any adventure so much more fun because we now have a vehicle that we can rely on,” Linda says.
Through the Drive to Thrive campaign, donors helped replace two aging vans that were beyond repair. And thanks to a generous matching gift, every dollar was doubled. As a result, Jeevan – and other people we serve – now have safe, reliable, and joyful access to their community.
“It’s a relief to know that I can drive without worrying and just enjoy my time with Jeevan,” Linda says.
Jeevan adds, beaming, “I love this new van! It means I get to go out and see my friends.”
The kindness of donors is helping people get places. It’s helping them connect to their communities, to their friends. We are grateful to everyone who contributed, helping to make community inclusion possible!
