On a hot, sunny Saturday in June, staff, trainees, and volunteers from Communitas and Unitex held a Sidewalk Sale and Car Wash at Communitas. The event was an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Communitas’ services and social enterprises. We expected to wash cars and sell clothing. What was unexpected was the kindness with which customers reacted as they learned more about what Communitas is all about. Check this out!
Spring Into Action is an annual Communitas initiative that encourages people to get active. This year, people collectively walked more than 26,000 kms!
The annual Taste and Tour in Campbell River was a chance to meet with our community, share some great refreshments, and learn more about Communitas work on Vancouver Island.
At Communitas, we get to connect with some of the most amazing people in the world. The people we serve teach us every day that goodness exists in abundance, and all it takes is one small act of kindness to prove it. For the third time, Communitas has achieved “exemplary” status from the Council on Accreditation. We are both proud and grateful! A Harvest Party held earlier this fall in Abbotsford was the result of several of our homes coming together to create a fun event for community.
More than a hundred people attended a gala event at The Reach Gallery Museum in Abbotsford as Communitas held its final celebratory event in honour of its 50th anniversary.
What began as a small, grassroots initiative in 1974 has grown into an organization that serves people of all abilities across BC.
