Taste and Tour Comes to Campbell River
The Communitas Taste and Tour returns to Campbell River on Wednesday, June 18th. It’s an opportunity to enjoy great food and drink while learning more about how Communitas Supportive Care Society serves people living with disabilities in this community.

Building on the success of last year’s event, the team at the Brandon Centre – Communitas’ regional office for North Vancouver Island – is looking forward to welcoming guests to this year’s event.
“Last year’s experience was really positive,” says Sheila Bennett, a program director with Communitas. “We’re looking forward to the opportunity this gives us to show our community the pride that our staff have for where they work and how they contribute to the lives of the people we serve.”

Guests will enjoy food and drink from local vendors while they tour the Brandon Centre and hear stories from staff and people served by the organization. More Eatery will cater the event, wines will come from 40Knots Winery, and several other businesses have contributed towards a door prize. Supporting local businesses is important to the organizers. Olha Buhai works as an administrative assistant for Communitas and is passionate about supporting the community in Campbell River.
“We have so many really great local businesses in the community,” Olha says. “This is such a great opportunity to support them and highlight the diverse and unique services that Campbell River has to offer.”

Archana Rao was a guest at last year’s event. She decided to attend because she wanted to support a local charity that does good work. Archana enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about Communitas and particularly liked the way she was able to engage with presenters.
“I liked that you could talk to the team rather than listen to a presentation,” Archana says. “I learned a lot more about Communitas and the breadth of impact that it has. The team was very friendly and passionate about their work.”
