Kindness Corner Makes Connections
Chelsi has always thought of herself as a very “artsy” person, so when she had an opportunity to bring her artistic talents to her work place, she was grateful.
“Being able to express creativity at work and share it with others is really meaningful to me,” Chelsi says.
Chelsi is a support worker in a home facilitated by Communitas Supportive Care Society. Each year, Communitas chooses a theme and this year’s theme is Kindness Connects.

Together with Harsh, a co-worker and Kimberley, who lives in the home, they created a Kindness Corner. Kimberley loves creative and thoughtful activities, so it was wonderful to be able to include them in the process.
“The Kindness Corner is a simple but meaningful space where people can share kind notes or thoughtful gestures to brighten someone else’s day,” Chelsi explains.

Colourful paper and pens are provided, as are ideas for ways to offer kindness to someone else. The whole project was completed in a day. It has been very well received in the home.

“People are actively using and contributing to it,” Chelsi says. “They are appreciating the chance to both give and receive kindness in a meaningful way.”
Chelsi believes that kindness is important because it builds connections and creates a sense of community.
“Kindness can make a big difference in someone’s day,” she says,” even through small, simple actions.”
