Alan & Clare, Board Members Communitas
Generosity is the highest virtue. Giving when you don’t have to, in response to a need, is really an expression of God’s love.
Alan Cavin and Clare Neufeld serve as members on the board of Communitas. Both are retired from work in areas of service: Alan worked in resource development at Communitas and Clare served as a pastor. Both men have made volunteerism a main focus of their retirement.
Alan: My years at Communitas were life changing. I had almost no experience with people who live with disabilities but I learned that we all want and need the same things: love, acceptance, work, and friends. I was humbled both by the people we serve at Communitas and also by the many ways that the community showed support. I believe that generosity is the highest virtue. Giving when you don’t have to, in response to a need, is really an expression of God’s love.
Clare: Being on the Communitas board has been the longest, singular volunteer role that I have held and I love serving here. I deeply appreciate the person-centred approach that infuses all that Communitas does. I have the utmost confidence that Communitas lives out its mission, vision, and values every day.
