Christmas Day Dinner

For over 10 years, Communitas has been hosting a Christmas meal for approximately 40 people, already receiving services from Communitas, who would otherwise have nowhere to go on Christmas Day. Tables and a tree are decorated, and a homemade meal is prepared to create a warm, comfortable, home-like atmosphere. Games are played, songs are sung, and stories are told. As well, each person receives a special gift to celebrate the Season of Giving!

Spring Fundraiser

Our annual Spring Fundraiser usually takes place during the first week in May. Usually this event includes a well-known musical or speaking guest, and focuses on a specific program that requires most of its operational costs to come from donations. Volunteers may be needed to help make this event a success, and there are usually opportunities for sponsors to give directly to the needs of the event through gifts-in-kind or cash donation, or they may choose instead to give directly to the program highlighted that evening.

FSN Retreat

Every Thanksgiving weekend, held in a peaceful camp setting, our Fall Retreat caters to every member of the family. Its family style, accessible accommodation provides a great time for all to get away from daily routines and enjoy a different environment. Support and learning from others who have similar experiences is therapeutic and refreshing to the body, soul and mind. Often there is a guest speaker for parents, while other family members are busy with planned activities led by college students and volunteers.
