Respitality is a program which is being accessed in many communities throughout BC. Respitality allows families of children with developmental disabilities one overnight stay per year at a local hotel or resort, or to enjoy a meal or spa treatment, or other relaxing experiences. 

Often, families who have children with developmental disabilities are faced with financial, physical and emotional challenges. Many parents and primary caregivers are also unable to leave their homes for long periods of time because they rely on equipment that is built into ther homes to assist them as they care for their children.

Respite services allow parents and primary caregivers the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate while taking a short break away from home. The goal of the Respitality Program is to connect parents and primary caregivers with the hospitality, dining and entertainment industries at little or no cost, to help them have a "pampered night out" or other ways to rejuvenate. 

Communitas is partnering with the Langley Association for Community Living and Chilliwack Association for Community Living, so that families from these three regions will have the opportunity to choose hospitality and entertainment venues from outside their immediate areas.

The Respitality Program is available to any family who has a child/children with developmental disabilities, even if you are not currently enrolled in our Respite program, so long as you receive respite funding or are currently on a waitlist to receive respite funding. Respitality parents are responsible for scheduling a caregiver and covering the respite costs for their child.
