Jean Vanier talks about "intermediate communities," places that provide shelter for us on our journey through life, places where we can shed some of our fears, places where we find we can do beautiful things, places where we discover we are loved by God.

Communitas has the potential to be an intermediate community for many of us as we travel through life. It can be a source of safety that we create for each other. For some of us Communitas has become more than just an intermediate community. We have chosen to stay and put our roots down deeper because we have discovered meaning and purpose. Regardless of whether we commit ourselves for a short time or for the long term, we have an opportunity to grow on our life's journey and to contribute to the world around us.
